Lace has always been a beautiful addition to a piece of clothing, but did you know that it was also a status symbol for much of its time? Because lace started as being meticulously handmade, the price of lace was not something everyone could afford. Join Inés Bonacossa, Collections Registrar, and explore the intricate origin of lace, the classism around it, and its loss of status through industrialization. This lecture will include a special look at Dalnavert’s lace collection.
Tickets are $10 per person, $5 for members.
