Lecture Series: For All the Tea in China with Ines Bonacossa

Tea was in China as early as 3000 BC, but not in England until much later. The story of how tea made it to Britain is one entwined with taxes, smuggling, industrial espionage and tea clippers racing from India to Britain.

This lecture focuses on how tea made it from China to the west, connections with India and the British tea craze. Why do we drink tea? How tea made it from China to the west- connections with India and the British tea craze.

The lectures take place in our Visitors' Centre. Each session begins at 1:30 pm and runs for about an hour.
