The Gothic genre became popular in the early 1800's, but by the Victorian period it was refined from ruined castles, gloomy skies and evil villains to contain elements of the supernatural and embody more recognizable sinister tones.
For Frankenstein’s 200th anniversary, prof. Kate Ready will be taking us through literature on 19th century monsters including Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and more!
The lectures take place in our Visitors' Centre. Each session begins at 1:30 pm and runs for about an hour.
